A Saudi prince is giving £28 billion ($43 billion) to charity.

We don’t need to tell you that’s a ridiculous sum ofMONEY.

It’s also the entirety – more or less – of Prince Al-Waheed bin Talal’s personal fortune.

The Saudi business magnate – thought to be the world’s 20th richest person – is a major shareholder in Citigroup and 21st Century Fox, and the owner of Kingdom HoldingCOMPANY.

He has been called the ‘Arabian Warren Buffett’, and it seems that like his American counterpart, he wants to give back.

The 60-year-old hopes his donation will build a ‘better world of tolerance, acceptance, equality andOPPORTUNITY for all.’

He adds that he hopes to ‘build bridges to foster cultural understanding, develop communities, empower women, enable youth, provide vital disaster relief and create a more tolerant and accepting world.’

We can’t argue with that.

The Prince says he will donate the majority of his wealth to Saudi Arabia ‘since most of his wealth was achieved from this blessed country’ butMONEY will also extend to countries around the world.

Of course, £28 billion out of £28.5-or-so billion still leaves you with a cool £500 million to play with, and the Saudi prince’s many businessINTERESTS will continue to make him millions, so his donation won’t leave him living in poverty.

But that doesn’t devalue the gesture, which could make a huge difference to many people’s lives.

Suicide bombers attack hospital in Maiduguri

TWO suicide bombers this morning attacked the Molai Leprosy/General Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno state. They only killed themselves and injured two others. Eyewitnesses say the first suicide bomber detonated his explosives as he tried to gain access into the hospital while the second one detonated his behind the hospital.

CBN Adjusts Naira-Dollar Exchange Rate As Traders Predict Currency Shrink

Nigeria’s Apex Bank, CBN, has on Tuesday lowered theNAIRA peg to 196.95 against the Dollar from 196.90, it set last week.

According to Reuters, this is the fourth time the CBN will be adjusting the peg since it was introduced in February.

Information gathered also suggests that the development has led to the recent fall of theNAIRA to 228 against the Dollar at the parallel market.

The yield on the Federal Government’s 2024 bond in the JP MorganGOVERNMENT BOND Index also rose by 40 basis point to 14.74 per cent.

Traders said the move mightINDICATE that CBN is beginning to think about how to loosen its currency regime.

Lagos police have arrested a man for allegedly bathing his ex-girlfriend with acid after she dumped him.

23-year-old caterer Rosemary Nanaifa

According to 23-year-old caterer Rosemary Nanaifa, her former lover, Paul Nwokobia, had repeatedly threatened her since she jilted him. But she couldn’t even imagine that he would go to the extent of bathing her with acid.

Speaking from her hospitalBED at the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital in Idi-Araba, Lagos, Nanaifa said that the incident happened on June 3, 2015.

“I was at workONE day when a private number called me around 4pm. The caller was a lady. She said she wanted me to bake cake for her. She said she would call back in the evening,” she recalled.

Nanaifa said that the woman called her again and suggested to meet at Surulere, adding that she would be in a red car.

“I was wearing a red blouse too. When I got to the spot, I did not see any red car and she was not calling back. Suddenly, I noticed someone drew my hair from behind and suddenly poured acid on my face down to my waist,” she added.

NEXTmoment Nanaifa fell to the ground, screaming and twisting with pain. Passersby noticed her and rushed to the hospital, where she received medical treatment. People also alerted the woman’s family.

Speaking about the relationship with her ex-boyfriend, the woman said that they had been dating for five years but she left him last September because he did not have a stableJOB and he wasn’t honest.

“There’s no big deal in jiltingYOUR lover. People do it every day. I didn’t expect Paul to have gone to that extreme. I was the one who led policemen to his house. He did not suspect we would trace the incident to him,” the victim’s elder brother said.

Kenneth Nwos, the state policePUBLIC RELATIONS officer, confirmed the incident. He added that the suspect and three others had been arrested and taken to the state criminal investigations department for further investigation.

Earlier this year, a similar incident happened in Oko-Ogbele community in Asaba, Delta state. A jealous housewife identified as Rosemary bathed her rival with acid water and jumped into the RiverNIGER after the terrible act.

'I want to give my testimony. At 11:30pm two sets of people attempted to rob me in traffic. I had just gotten off the phone with my mum to say I was in standstill traffic. When the first set of two guys yelled at me from outside my window to wind down. Unknown to me she immediately said a prayer for my safeRETURN. I remember hearing that your best escape was to honk your horn repeatedly. I put my hand on the horn and didn't let go. And I called God in my mind to help me. Immediately I saw an opening in theNEXT lane and swerved in, still pressing my horn. They fled.

5 minutes later three guys came to the drivers side window. Pointing torches into my car. Same instructions. Wind down give us something. Next thing I see something swing and my window shatters. At that very minute another space opens on the next lane and I swerve in while honking. They fled.

Many would say I was almost robbed, I say I wasSAVED. Thank you God for your mercies.

A Nigerian man simply identified as Chinedu (pictured above) died this week after jumping from the 3rd floor of his apartment building in Malaysia as Malaysian police invaded his building. Chinedu, said to be from Ani Oma in Delta state, was rushed to the hospital after landing head first. He later died in hospital. His friends sent in the photos so people can know what's happening to some Nigerians in the country. They sent photos of Chinedu after he'd been certified dead. SAD: Factory Machine Smashes Worker’s Head

Samuel Ogunkoya a 26 year old man has been killed by a machine that smashed his head in hisWORK place in Ogun state.

Ogunkoya, until his death worked at of Wempco Steel MillCOMPANY, Magboro. It was said that after one of the pipes affixed to the company’s ‘actrus pumping machine’ came down on his head when he went to pick the charger of the remote control of the vehicle.

According to Punch, the workers had earlier complained that the vehicle housing the machine used to mold brick had developed fault but they were told toMANAGE it.

The victim who hailed from Ijebu Ode was rushed to a hospital in the community after the incidence but was referred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where he wasCONFIRMED dead.

Some of the deceased’s colleagues blamed his death on the company’s badMANAGEMENT saying that three other persons had died due to the company’s negligence.

One of the workers said: “For almost a month now, the vehicle was releasing hydraulic oil.ONE of us complained to the management, but they said there was no time; they said we shouldMANAGE it like that. We complained that the vehicle was not working well, but they said, ‘go and manage it or leave the job.’

“It was taken to a mechanic last Friday and was brought back on Monday. It was notTESTED before the production commenced. The machine has five pipes used for molding concrete. A worker and the mechanic were operating the vehicle. Four pipes had come. The fifth one was coming out when it suddenly fell and smashed his head as he bent down to pick the charger. ”

Another worker said: “I have beenWORKING in this company for over five years. There is no welfare for the workers. Ogunkoya is the fourth worker we have lost to the company’s negligence this year after Jimoh, Samuel and Ibrahim. It was a forklift machine that smashed Jimoh’s body. He was passing by; unknown to him, a machine was being operated from the inside. The forklift pinned him to the floor. He died on the way to the hospital.

“There should be a hospital inside the company, where casualties can be rushed to, but the management are only interested in using usTO MAKE MONEY,”

Mr. Abdulganiyu Abdulazeez, aMANAGER in the company said the matter was being exaggerated and blamed the workers for not being safety conscious.

 “There is no much response that I can give now. When anything happens, people exaggerate the information. That is what they (workers) are trying to do. As a citizen, I am there to protect theINTEREST of Nigerian.

“When we see, I will tell you the true picture of things. In every organisation, accidents are bound to happen. Some of these workers don’t use their safety devices”

Continuous Attacks Against Tinubu Will Be The Downfall Of APC – Party Chieftain

The immediate past Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to former Governor Babatunde Fashola, Lateef Raji has warned that the recent attacks on the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, willLEAD to the downfall of the party.

The APC chieftain who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, said Tinubu was the pillar of the party and if he was pushed out, APC may not live to see another election.

In reaction to the results of the National Assembly elections, he stated that the action and comments from some party groupsINDICATE that some members within APC are out to rubbish certain leaders in the party, particularly, Tinubu who has contributed a lot to the victory of the APC in the last general elections.

He said:“The history behind the merger that later culminated in the APC is well known and well documented. The role played by Tinubu is also known to all. In whatever terms, his contributions cannot be quantified. So, efforts by anyone to rubbish his contributions will spell doom for the fortune of the party if not now but later.”

The APC chieftain also said that the decision of both Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogara to go against the party’sDIRECTIVE would not project a good outcome for the party’s discipline.

In a related development, a group under the auspices of the Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation  has accused Senator Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara of fueling the current crisis rocking the National Assembly.
