Presidency inaugurates committee on Jonathan support groups

The Presidency inaugurated yesterday an 11-
members committee to coordinate the various groups
drumming support for President Goodluck
Jonathan's 2015 re-election bid.
The President's Political Adviser, Prof. Rufai Alkali,
who inaugurated the committee, said the panel was
to streamline the organisation and structures of the
groups.
Alkali said: "As 2015 approaches, we note that the
circumstances and fundamentals facing us are
somewhat different. The opposition is different: the
political landscape is different, the players are
different and the issues are different.
"Therefore, to succeed in 2015, there is a great need
to re-appraise our strategies and the structures of the
umbrella organisation of the Goodluck Support
Group (GSG), which helped us to victory in 2011.
"To address these issues, the reorganisation of the
GSG has become imperative. I have, therefore,
decided to set up a special GSG re-organisation
committee to study all issues concerning the
organisation and propose a reorganisation structure
that will allow us position for 2015."
The President's aide urged the various Jonathan
support groups to register in the six zonal offices set
up by his office.
Alkali said: "The exercise will enable us to properly
understand these organisations and their objectives
so that we can prepare to partner, coordinate and
work with them to achieve victory in 2015.
"This screening and evaluation will be conducted by
my workers, in collaboration with our state chairmen
and other stakeholders and will be supervised by my
Senior Special Assistant on campaign groups."
The committee is chaired by Gen. Ahmed Ibrahim.
Other members are: Chief Olusola Oke, Nick Eze,
William Makinde, Mohammed El-Amin and Senator
Nimi Amnage.
Others are: Alhaji Lamido Chikaire, Prof. Tony
Edoh, Hajia Barakat Sani, Godson Nnaka and A. Y.
Ahmed.
The committee was given 10 days to submit its report.

I used robbery proceeds to train my daughter in school - robbery suspect

A member of an armed robbery gang who gave his
name as Afeez said he used the proceeds he got from
armed robbery to send his daughter to school. Afeez
and his partner Wasiu were apprehended recently by
operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS,
Ikeja, Lagos at a checkpoint in Mushin while on
their way to an operation.
According to the police, the young men boarded a
taxi at Oshodi around 11pm and were heading to
Mushin when they came across a police checkpoint.
Seeing the police checkpoint ahead, they became
jittery, commanding the cab man to stop them and
even tried forcing the door open. The taxi driver
suspecting that they were criminals drove quickly to
the police checkpoint where he immediately
intimated the police officers of his suspicions. A

Confessing to armed robbery, Lekan who says he is
married with a daughter said he took to armed
robbery a year ago
"Iam from Osun state, I am married, I have a
daughter, I joined the gang 12 months ago, I have
participated in five robbery operations within Lagos
and Ogun states. I have not made much from the
robbery operation. Sometimes, I make N20, 000,
N15, 000 or N30, 000. I also make money from
selling phones, gold and valuables we steal during
operations. I was selling Indian hemp at Ojuelegba
before the Aiye cult boys forced me to join them, that
was how I started robbery with the gang. I was a
cobbler when I lost my mother, I could not continue
because there was nobody to support me. I have
worked as a bus conductor for more than nine years;
I sold Indian hemp for three years before I joined the
gang last year when Legba introduced me to the
gang. We only use the guns to scare people during
operations. I have never killed anyone and I have
never raped anyone. That night, Legba called me on
phone to come to Oshodi. When I got there, he gave
me a gun to take to his wife at Mushin but on our
way, police arrested us. I knew him when I was
selling Indian hemp but I didn't know that he was an
armed robber. I am the one who introduced Wasiu
into the armed robbery gang. We live in the same
area in Iyana- Itire area of Lagos state. I have a four-
year- old daughter, I use proceeds from the robbery
operations to train my daughter in school. I regret
joining the group." he said
The other member of the gang, Wasiu said he took
to armed robbery his year
"I joined the gang this year and I have also
participated in five robbery operations in Lagos state.
We are nine in the group. I was introduced into the
gang by Afeez. I was at Mushin when he asked me to
accompany him to Osohdi when the gang leader
called him. When we got there, he told us to take a
gun to his wife which was what we were doing when
we were arrested. I have not made anything from the
operations. If I ever get out of this, I will never rob
again. I am a trained mechanic but I don't like the
work, that is why I joined the gang to make a living."

Dear LIB readers, should I marry her?

From a male LIB reader
I've been dating this lady for 3 years and was
preparing to ask her to be my wife. She is 28,
educated, lives alone and has a decent job. However,
she doesn't clean and hardly cooks.
Last Saturday I went to visit her expecting to spend
the night, on the way I got some food which I ate at
hers. Shortly after my arrival she cooked, ate and fell
asleep in the living room. While she was sleeping I
cleared the plates, took them to the kitchen and put
the rest of the food on the cooker in the fridge.
About an hour later when she woke up she walked
into the kitchen to see I had not washed the plates.
Irritated and annoyed she started complaining "You
couldn't even wash the plates, ordinary plate you
couldn't wash".
Then went into her room and locked the door as I
ignore her. So I let myself out and went home. The
next evening with little to no communication
throughout the day she sent me this message.

As a result of this together with instances in the past
where she has failed to guard her tongue and more
importantly apologize, I'm starting to think that a
lady who comfortably sends such a message 24 hours
after such an incident to someone she claims to want
to spend the rest of her life with is not wife material,
girlfriend material maybe but certainly not wife
material.
As she clearly has no respect for me as her future
husband nor for her role as the woman of the house -
more so in this case where it is her house. It seems to
me like this it how it starts.
I don't think I am overreacting but it will be good to
know what the female LIB readers think.

10 Things You Did Not Know About SPERM

1. Not all sperm are made equal: As much as a
man would love to have millions of perfect little guys,
the fact is that many of them are deformed. We're
talking two heads, two tails, squiggly tails, heads
that are too large or two small, etc.
2. Sperm are hard workers: Well, not all of
them. But of the ones that can swim straight enough
to get to the egg, one lucky bugger (though
sometimes more than one. Can you say multiples?)
drills its way into the egg to begin fertilization.
3. There is a difference between "sperm" and
"semen": Many people use both terms
interchangeably, but they are not the same
substance. Sperm cells are just one part of the semen.
Seminal fluid also contains fructose and proteolytic,

4. The odds are tough: In the average ejaculate,
there 200 million sperm. That's some steep
competition!
5. Sperm don't have to be moving to fertilize
an egg: That's both true and not true. For natural
fertilization to occur, the sperm has to be able to
swim and drill into the egg, but during In-Vitro
fertilization, the sperm is injected directly into the
egg, making motion on the sperm's part a nonissue.
6. They don't always know where they're
going: Only about half of the sperm who are
ejaculated make it to the egg. The rest doodle around
in circles.
7. You need to keep your boys cool: For healthy
sperm to exist in a man's body, the testicles need to
be cooler than the body. On average, testicles are
seven degrees cooler than the rest of the body. You
don't want the testicles to be any closer to the
warmth than necessary. That's why boxers are better
than briefs when it comes to making babies!
8. The production process is different in men
and women: Ladies are born with all the eggs they
will ever have in their life. But men are constantly
making new sperm. It takes about two months for a
sperm cell to go from start to finish.
9. Diet plays a big role in the taste of semen:
Gentlemen, if you are partial to oral sex, do both of
you a favor by exercising regularly and maintaining a
diet high in fruits and veggies. It benefits you in that
you will have healthier sperm, and it benefits your
partner in that your semen tastes better. A diet high
in red meat, dairy, garlic and coffee will make the
taste of your semen take a nosedive.
10. They come in both genders: Yes, there are

Man kills mother over alleged witchcraft.

AWKA—A 29-year-old man, Ekene Ucheagwu, who
killed his 65-year-old mother, Agnes in her home at
Ogbunka in Orumba South Local Government Area
of Anambra State was yesterday paraded by men of
the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Awkuzu.
Ekene, a cobbler, said he had to kill his mother
because she was using witchcraft to block the
progress of her surviving four children.
Narrating his story, the suspect said: "I decided to
kill her because she did not allow the spirit of God to
come into our family.
"Once she cursed anybody, that person will never
progress and she was doing it to my brothers and
sisters very often.
"I am the only one among her six children (two later
died) that knew her secrets. My elder brother, who is
45 years old is yet to get married and nobody in our
area agrees to marry any of my sisters or their
daughters to marry any of us.
"When I confronted her by calling her 'queen of the
coast', she tried to kill me, having known that I knew
her secrets and that was why I decided to kill her
first.
"I hit her on the head with a big stick at night and
she slumped and died and I carried her in a
wheelbarrow that night to the Obukwu bush in my
community where I burnt her body to ashes."
He said that after some days of the incident, some
people in the community, who did not see her, began
to suspect that something terrible had happened, but
they could not prove anything, adding that when he
could not explain the whereabouts of his mother, the
villagers banished him from the community.
Ekene said he fled to Aba, Abia State where he
continued with his business until men of SARS
arrested him.
He said that his late mother never got married,
adding that she had all her six children in her
father's house and they all answer her maiden name.
He said that having realised the enormity of his
action, he was regretting killing his mother,
although he insisted that; "When the kingdom of
God finally comes, people would realise that I did the
right thing."
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Uche
Eze, who paraded the suspect said investigation into
the matter was continuing.

Produce chibok girls or forget 2015

Northern Elders Forum (NEF) yesterday, said that
President Goodluck Jonathan should forget about
contesting in 2015 if he fails to produce the Chibok
secondary school students kidnapped by the Boko
Haram sect in April.
According to statement, signed by Barrister Solomon
Dalung and Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the group
NEF states that it does not believe that the Nigerian
military cannot defeat the terrorists, and that it feels
the conflicts in the country are simply being
engineered to weaken the North politically and
economically.
"We also reject the notion that multiple internal
security challenges such as attacks on villages,
ethno-religions conflicts and banditry springing up
by the day in many parts of the north are all a
coincidence," the statement said. "Indeed, we are
convinced that most of these conflicts are being
engineered to weaken the North politically and
economically by interests which intend to exploit
such weaknesses for electoral benefits."
NEF expressed strong displeasure over the Boko
Haram insurgency, the government's failure to deal
with it, and the recent massacre in Gwoza town in
Borno State.
It said it was issuing the statement after concluding a
major review of the state of the nation, and as part of
its continuous commitment to help to resolve
Nigeria's current political, economic and security
challenges, and facilitate the emergence of a more
united, secure and prosperous nation out of its
present limitations.
"The security situation in our nation today represents
the most serious threat to our individual and
collective lives in our entire history," NEF warned.
It observed that the reality is that the threats posed by
what appears to be an insurgency that has many
manifestations and defies a clear and consistent
identity is growing on account of a clear national
consensus over its nature and it solutions.
"The lack of a strong will at the level of the
presidency to fight it, as well as deep-seated
corruption and incompetence in governments and in
the management of our security challenges has
allowed a band of terrorists to take and hold vast
parts of our land and populations hostage, while
every citizen lives in fear that they will be its next
victim."
Asking Mr. Jonathan to forfeit 2015 unless he
produces the Chibok girls, the Northern Elders
warned, "In the light of our firm conviction that the
insurgency and related security challenges pose
threats to the 2015 elections and the survival of our
nation, we strongly advise President Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan to bring an end to the insurgency in all its
manifestations and produce the Chibok girls before
the end of October, 2014. The circumstances under
which our fellow citizens in and around Gwoza in
Borno state in particular live and die will not be
tolerated by any people who have a government and a
leader sworn to defend them, and they must be
reversed immediately. In the event that President
Jonathan fails to do this, Nigerians will be left with
the only conclusion that he has forfeited his right to
ask for our mandate beyond 2015.

ECOWAS, announced today the death of Jatto
Abdulqudir, a member of its staff, from the Ebola
virus. Abdulqudir is the third person in Nigeria to
die of the disease, following the initial Liberian
case, Patrick Sawyer, and a nurse who attended to
him after he collapsed in Lagos.

today, the commission expressed gratitude to
Nigerian government authorities and paid tribute to
Mr. Abdulqudir, a protocol assistant, who was one
of the principal staff members who worked with
