Cleric Advises Buhari On Cabinet Appointments, Praises Jonathan

President Muhammadu Buhari receives yet another recommendation on how to choose the right people into his cabinet to tackle corruption.
Francis Ogunmodede, episcopal vicar/dean, Lekki region of the Catholic arch. diocese of Lagos, warned the new president that he may lose the fight against corruption if he made wrong appointments.
The priest also advised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Buhari not to relax in the pursuit of their vision for change.
The recommendations were given during an interview with NAN in Lagos, on May 30, 2015, Saturday:
“APC needs self discipline to remain focused. President Buhari is regarded to be an upright person and without flair for corruption; that is one thing that is characteristic of him and people love him for that.
“He should work on that and strive to nip in the bud any corrupt practices. He has to select the right type of people now, look into their history and see if they have flair for corruption or if they have been accused of mismanagement of funds or other negative tendencies.
“We need selfless people who would not think of themselves but would think of serving the society.
“I am not envisaging that President Buhari would be able to wipe out corruption completely, but my prayer for him is for him to diminish it as much as possible,” Ogunmodede said.
The priest praised commended former President Goodluck Jonathan for giving the birth to a new dawn of democracy in the nation and for breaking the jinx of African leaders holding onto power.
As the inauguration period is over, it is only a matter of days Nigeria knows the real Buhari’s decisions on the new cabinet. In the several past weeks some data on the possible ministers has already leaked. The latest list contained 40 names which were reportedly presented for screening.
