A girl was allegedly shot dead by her boyfriend at the weekend over a new born baby and bride price.
The suspect, who was a security man at her street in GRA, Onitsha, had been sacked from his duty in December 2014. That was after he had fallen in love with the girl.
Trouble was said to have started when the suspect, an ex-vigilante boss identified as Uche (surname withheld) demanded the custody of his new born baby.
Her parents refused to give him the baby because he had not paid their daughter’s bride price, Leadership reports.
Two days to her death, he was said to have visited the girl at her parents home and wanted to take the baby by force but the girl did not allow him.
For refusing to let him have his way, he had collected all her clothes and that of the baby and burnt them before leaving the house.
