Doughnut

Doughnuts are delicious and hard to resist especially when filled jam or custard. This recipe is enjoyed at any time of the day whether fried or baked .
Serves
5
Cook Time
2 hours 30 minutes
INGREDIENTS
5cups of Flour
1/2cup of Sugar
2 eggs
1/4cup of Warm Water
1.5cups Warm Milk
4tbsp Instant Yeast
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1/3cup of shortening
1tsp of Salt
Oil for deep frying
DIRECTIONS
Sieve flour, salt and nutmeg
Add the sugar and yeast to the flour mixture
Add the warm water and milk
Melt the Vegetable Shortening and add to the mixture
Rub in the beaten egg and mix all the ingredients in a bowl and leave for 10minutes
Place on a smooth surface and knead for about 5minutes
Leave to rise for about 1.5hours
Knead on floured surface for 8 minutes and roll out.
Cut out with a doughnut cutter and place in a tray for one hour
Put the oil on fire and when in it hot, deep fry
You may put jam or thick prepared custard in between before frying
