Breaking News!!! BigBrother Africa 2015 Cancelled.

This is not good news for African viewers as the biggest reality TV show in Africa, Big Brother Africa (BBA) may not take place this year as expected.

This is due to lack of sponsorship. The organizers of the show, Africa Magic and Endemol were unable to get sponsorship for this year's edition of the show.

The Manager of Multichoice Ghana, Anne Sackey confirmed to peganews that they at Multichoice Ghana have received notice from MNET that this year's edition of Big Brother Africa will not hold.

She explained that MNET did not give them any reasons as to why they will not be doing the Big Brother this year, but then, she personally thinks it's due to sponsorship constraints.

Saraki Decries Unnecessary Deaths In Arepo Fire Incident

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has decried what he called unnecessary loss of precious human lives as witnessed in the petroleum pipeline fire incident at Arepo, Ogun State.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki
Senate President, Bukola Saraki
He said he was shocked that over 100 Nigerians were roasted beyond recognition due to activities of oil pipeline vandals as people alleged to be scooping fuel from a burst Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline were trapped without needed emergency response to rescue them.

Saraki lamented a situation where corpses of victims could not be immediately evacuated by relevant security agencies as a result of the inaccessible terrain.
“The incident saddens me because I realize that these are Nigerians who have met their untimely deaths in such gruesome circumstances” he said in a statement made available to NAIJ
“I must say that the fire incident in that area was one too many at a time one would have thought that we have put issues of pipeline vandalism, blamed for the fire incident, behind us. It is also worrisome that security agencies and emergency rescue workers seemed helpless in immediately swinging into action to rescue the affected victims or curtailing the spread of the fire,” he added.
He also urged Nigerians to be wary of scooping fuel from bursted pipelines as they are veritable source of danger capable of causing unimaginable calamity to lives and colossal economic waste.

He assured that the Federal Government would continue to enjoy the support of the National Assembly in all its current efforts aimed at securing the lives and property of Nigerians.
“Pipeline vandalism is evil. Apart from it being a heinous economic crime, it often leads to waste of lives and property just like we have again witnessed.
“The activities of vandals today challenge our security agencies to up their game and prove once more that they are more than equal to criminal gangs who daily sabotage essential economic infrastructure, leading to unnecessary loss of lives, heightened insecurity and above all resource leakages.

“Nigerians, especially those living in security challenged areas, must take the Arepo explosion as a call to national duty by partnering with the security agencies through timely intelligence so as to prevent recurrence of calamities of these very magnitude.
“Our citizens and national assets must be secured against security risks such as pipeline vandalism, oil theft and kidnapping etc, irrespective of where they live or are located in the country,” he said.
He called on the joint task security team to urgently secure all national assets across the country, and equally ensure that bodies yet to be retrieved from the Arepo inferno are immediately evacuated.
It would be recalled that Saraki had challenged Nigerian workers to play their part in the war

3 year old boy falls into well while playing with his friends

Tragedy struck when a 3-year-old boy, Emmanuel Samuel, died on Sunday after he fell inside a well in front of a building on Hassan Sule Street, Ita Oluwo, in Ikorodu, Lagos. The toddler was playing with his older brother, Timileyin Samuel, and some of their friends around 3pm in the area when the deceased accidentally fell into the well.

It was learnt that residents and officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, who came to the area after receiving the distress call, had difficulties rescuing the victim due to the depth of the well.

It was gathered that a member of the Oodua People’s Congress later summoned up courage and went down the well to rescue the boy at about 7pm.

He brought out the boy dead.

It was learnt that the well was dug about eight years ago by the landlord of the building but was abandoned when it did not produce water.

Some youths were said to have been angered by the fact that the landlord had left the well open for so long. So, they reportedly stormed the residence and broke some window glasses.

The landlord, Bamidele Ogunwole, was said to have been arrested on Monday after the incident was reported at the Ogijo Police Division, Ogun State.

Emmanuel’s mother, Kikelolomo, who spoke in tears, described the deceased as her “everything.” She said,
“He had brothers and sisters, but he was my everything. He was very intelligent and smart. It was his brother that rushed to tell me he had drowned.”
His father, Sergeant Abu Samuel, said the most painful part was the fact that the landlord buried his child without his consent.
“I was on duty when I was called that my son had drowned only to come back home and be told he was dead. To add insult to injury, that man (the landlord) buried my child somewhere in Agodo without my consent,” he said.
Residents described Emmanuel’s death as avoidable. One of them, who identified herself only as Esther, said,
“It is very easy for anybody to get trapped in a well that is left open like this. One of the man’s tenants told me that they had complained several times to the landlord, but he ignored them.”
The lawyer for the family, P.O. Idogun, accused the police of “foot-dragging,” adding that no relative of the suspect had shown up at the police station. The Chairman of the community development association, Alara Ogodo, blamed the suspect for burying the child without the approval of his family.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the landlord had presented himself to the police. He said, “He is in our custody. We will do something about the case.”

Rivers Governorship Election Tribunal Commences Pre-hearing

NYESOM WIKE
The Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal will tomorrow begin pre-hearing sessions on five separate petitions that were lodged against Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike before it.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate in the state, Chief Dakuku Peterside had on May 3, gone before the tribunal to challenge the outcome of the governorship election that was declared in favour of Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Joined as respondents were INEC, Wike and the PDP.
Aside APC and Peterside, four other governorship aspirants in the state also went before the tribunal to challenge the declaration of Governor Wike as the winner of the election. They are Mr. Charles Harry of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Tonye Princewill of the Labour Party, Kemka Elenwo of KOWA Party and Minaibim Harry of the Social Democratic Party.
They are separately praying the tribunal to nullify Wike’s victory on the premise that the election was not only fraught with manifest irregularities, but was conducted with total disregard to relevant provisions of the Electoral Act.
The Justice Pindiga-led tribunal had on June 11 granted an ex-parte order permitting the petitioners to personally or through their lawyers or forensic expert, inspect the electoral materials used for the poll.

7 Things You Can Do To Keep Your Cool When You’re With Difficult People

difficult person
The world is full of difficult and easy going people. Some difficult people have no specific reason for being the way they are and can purely be described as haters who dislike everyone and everything around them. More so, there are also people who appear to have problems with you specifically, for no just reason. These kind of people are hard to ignore and come to a compromise with mostly because the majority of people around don’t give them the attention they desire.
Tired of such people; never mind, here are seven tips that can help you deal with difficult people.
Keep Your Nerves
This is not an easy task given the fact that it is probably the last thing you want to do at that point in time. But know that for you to get through to such people and get a solution to whatever issues you have at hand, you would need to keep your nerves in check.
Count from 1 to 10
This method has been proven to work well when people find themselves in a tough situation with recalcitrant fellows. Simply steady your nerves, band count from 1 to 10 in your mind. Then you can see if they still make you go mad.
See How Others Around You React To That Person You Find Difficult
Take a quick survey of the reactions of people that are around you when the person confronting you is acting difficult. Perhaps, it could be only you that finds the person irritating. If you think that’s the case, see the next tip.
Ignore
Yes, this actually works well. If you think someone around you seems to be particularly getting on your nerves, sometimes or even most of the time, it might be a good thing to keep their shenanigans to yourself. Not doing so might make other people perceive you as a weird person. But if that person has stretched you to a breaking point that you just can’t take it anymore, then the next tip would come in much handy.
Calmly Tell That Person How You Feel
You might see this as something that wouldn’t change much but surprisingly, this tip may just change everything. At times, people that appear difficult may have no idea they are irritating until you make it known to them. A good example was a colleague of mine who was used to playing loud music from his mobile device that everyone around seemed irritated by it. I calmly made this known to him one day without raising my voice. I simply told him that the loud music was upsetting and formed some form of distraction to me and some others at work. He said he felt bad that no one brought it to his notice earlier and he has made use of an earpiece since then. At this point, you might ask, what if i face the person politely and they don’t want to change a thing? Then you might want to consider reporting them to an higher authority which forms the basis of the next tip.
Report Person to a Boss or Someone They Respect
Reporting a difficult person to their boss or someone they respect can do a lot to bring out the needed change from them. For instance, if you have someone acting in an unbearably impolite manner at work, you may want to consider reporting them to a higher authority at work. Or if a difficult friend has a family member or person they have huge respect for, such persons may help whip them in line. They can be reprimanded for their behaviour which may help correct it.
Yoga and Meditation
Meditating is a good way of learning how to steady your nerves. It provides the needed training that helps you ignore anything that is detrimental to you. Perhaps, you might want to focus on this rule than any other because there will always be difficult people around and if you can’t beat them, don’t join them, but ignore them.

Boko Haram And ISIS Set To Use Chickens As Suicide Bombing Devices (Photos)

Terrorists loyal to the Islamic State of Iraq have started using chickens as mobile Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

It was gathered that members of the terrorist group which carries out their attacks within the city of Fallujah and its environs, are reported to be strapping explosive belts to chickens, which are left to stray into enemy camps.
When the chickens are within striking distance without arousing suspicion, the terrorists are said to use remote controls to set off the explosives, killing those in close range.

An unidentified Boko Haram Facebook page has subsequently declared support for the chicken bomber ingenuity and insists it will use them against infidels in Nigeria.

Full Transcript Of Buhari, Obama’s Press Conference

BUhari and Obama
The much anticipated meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and US president Barack Obama held yesterday at the White House in washington.
The two leaders discussed Nigeria’s security situation and how to end corruption in the country, among other things.
A joint press conference held just before their meeting. Read transcripts below.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, it’s a great pleasure to welcome President Buhari and his delegation here to the Oval Office for his first visit since the historic election that took place. Nigeria is obviously one of the important countries in the world and one of the most important countries in the African continent.
Recently, we saw an election in which a peaceful transition to a new government took place. And it was an affirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to democracy, a recognition that although Nigeria is a big country and a diverse country with many different parts, nevertheless the people of Nigeria understand that only through a peaceful political process can change take place.
President Buhari comes into office with a reputation for integrity and a very clear agenda, and that is to make sure that he is bringing safety and security and peace to his country. He’s very concerned about the spread of Boko Haram and the violence that’s taken place there, and the atrocities that they’ve carried out, and has a very clear agenda in defeating Boko Haram and extremists of all sorts inside of his country. And he has a very clear agenda with respect to rooting out the corruption that too often has held back the economic growth and prosperity of his country. On both these issues, we’re looking forward to hearing more about his plans and how the United States can partner with Nigeria so that Nigeria ends up being an anchor not only of prosperity and stability in the eastern part of the continent, but can also be an outstanding role model for developing countries around the world. And we very much look forward to talking about security issues, how we can cooperate on counterterrorism.
We’re looking forward to discussing how we can be helpful in addressing some of the corruption issues that have held Nigeria back, and unleashing the incredible talent of the Nigerian people. We all recognize that some of the best businesspeople in the world are from Nigeria, and they thrive as they travel to other countries, but we want to make sure that they’re also helping folks thrive in Nigeria. We’re also going to have an opportunity to talk about some of the other areas where Nigeria has taken leadership — in public health issues, fighting tragedies like Ebola. Nigeria has an outstanding track record working with us to eradicate polio, and that gives us a framework and a template to continue to work on public health issues throughout the western part of Africa, as well as throughout the subcontinent.
We’ll have a chance to talk about issues of climate change, electrification. As many of you know, Power Africa is one of our top priorities, making sure that we’re electrifying the continent so that it can grow faster and more people have access to the power that they need. So we’ve got a busy agenda, but I want to emphasize how much I appreciate President Buhari’s work so far. I’m looking forward to seeing him put together his team so that we can do everything that we can to help him succeed and help the people of Nigeria succeed. Because if they’re successful and doing well, that will have a ripple effect not only in West Africa, but throughout the world. So thank you very much. Mr. President.
PRESIDENT BUHARI: Nigeria will remain ever grateful to President Obama and the United States for making Nigeria to consolidate its gains on a democratic system. The visit of the Secretary of State, when he visited Nigeria to see the President and the whole government of Nigeria, see the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission for Nigeria, and saw the operation was very clear and a positive trend that saw us through for this credible election we had. And the maintenance of pressure by the United States, mainly, and Europe, to make sure that the elections were free, fair and credible led us to where we are now. It would have been almost impossible if the United States did not maintain the pressure on the former Nigerian government, but they would not accept anything less constitutional as far as the processes of the election are concerned. We will ever remain grateful to you because there are fundamental objectives that are identify all of Nigeria’s people’s Congress — security, economy, employment especially of youth, and then fighting corruption. We are extremely happy that the United States had made it absolutely clear before the election that they are prepared to help Nigeria in this aspect. And this is why I am here, and I am very grateful for the invitation Mr. President extended to me. Thank you very much, Mr. President.

Leave Our Communities In 7 Days – Ijaw Groups Tell Oil Companies

Seven communities in the oil rich state of Delta have given oil companies in the state seven days to leave their abode or in their own words, ”face dire consequences.”
The communities, namely; Diebiri, Egbema, Gbaramatu, Iduwini, Ogbe-Ijoh, Ogulagha and Kou kingdoms, in are hosts to flow-stations and well heads operated by  Agip, Neconde Energy Ltd, Chevron Nigeria Ltd, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) and Shell Development Petroleum Company (SPDC).
The communities also called on foreign embassies in Nigeria to advise their nationals in their territories to vacate their personnel and contractors as their safety would no longer be guaranteed henceforth.
The statement by the communities was signed by Comrade Sherif Mulade and 20 other representatives of the various communities and made available to the Nigerian Tribune.

Not done, the communities called on the Delta State government to release the alleged N300 billion owed the Delta State Oil Producing Development Commission (DESOPADEC) meant for the development of the communities.
The statement read in part, “Having carefully and painstakingly studied the executive bill at the floor of the Delta State House of Assembly on the proposed DESOPADEC Amendment Bill, we, in strong terms, condemn and reject the bill in its entirety as it seeks to rip us off of the 13 percent derivation fund given to the oil and gas producing communities in the state.
“The bill is inimical to the principle of derivation and insensitive to the peculiarities of the oil-producing
communities.
“Therefore, we will not fold our arms and watch the Delta State government to take away our economic and political right by way of politicising the 13 per cent derivation fund meant to develop our communities through DESOPADEC.”

Recently, the Ijaw nation said they will initiate the process of renegotiating the basis of their coexistence with other ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Even as the former minister of Niger Delta affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, has appealed to Ijaw people to go back to fishing in order to reduce the region’s dependence on oil.

Obasanjo should let Jonathan be – Ayo Fayose

Press statement from Ekiti State Governor...
Mr Ayodele Fayose has urged former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to stop attacking the immediate past President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, saying; “Dr Goodluck Jonathan is no longer the president of Nigeria, he should be allowed to live a private life devoid of mudslinging from elder statesmen like Chief Obasanjo.”
Governor Fayose said he was miffed that former President Obasanjo could choose the 11th Convocation Lecture of Benson Idahosa University (BIU) Benin, Edo State to say that “performance of Jonathan while in office will hunt the people of the South-South region for a long time to come.”

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Monday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said the people of the South South had already demonstrated their approval of Jonathan’s performance while in office by voting overwhelmingly for him on March 28 despite the gang-up orchestrated by Chief Obasanjo and his allies.

“Most importantly, Jonathan’s performance as a democrat has been widely acknowledged locally and internationally, particularly by President Mohammadu Buhari, who on many occasions acknowledged the role he (Jonathan) played in midwifing a peaceful and successful transition programme, thereby averting the feared crisis in the country.

“This is in contrast to Baba Obasanjo, who tried third term when he was about concluding his constitutional two terms. And who knows whether he would have tried fourth term if he had succeeded with his third term agenda? “The reality is, assuming but not conceding that Jonathan performed below expectation, democratic governance that he established in Nigeria is more important than any other performance that Obasanjo alluded to,” the governor said.

Speaking further, Governor Fayose urged Obasanjo to stop running other Nigerians down, saying; “We are all stakeholders in the country Nigeria. It is wrong for any Nigerian no matter how highly placed to go about carrying himself around as the only honest and lover of the country.”

The governor said; “since Baba Obasanjo has openly destroyed his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card, he is free to go about seeking relevance in the All Progressives Congress (APC) without running anyone down.”

He said people living in glass houses should avoid throwing stones, adding that Nigerians know those involved in the Halliburton scandal and people who are yet to be cleared of their alleged complicity in a scam like Halliburton lacked moral rights to brand other people as corrupt.

26-Year-Old Chinese Man Grows Boobs After Eating A Lot Of Fried Chicken

Mr. Li, a 26-year-old Chinese college graduate, visited doctors after his chest began to change.
Medics told him to refuse to fried chicken wings and drumsticks and add more fruit and vegetables to his diet, as the hormones in the white meat were the reason behind his inflated bust.

To find out if we should steer clear of fried chicken, consulted an expert.
Miguel Toribio-Mateas, professional nutritionist and chair of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy, told: “It’s a tricky one because it’s down to genetic composure as well. Oestrogen from external sources – meat for example – is not going to affect everybody.”

So you’ll be relieved to know it’s not as simple as men eating meat and then breast tissue inexplicably grows.
Toribio-Mateas added: ‘‘If you eat meat that has been treated with growth hormones, for example, and if genetically you are respondent to those hormones as a man, then you are more likely to develop tissue in places where you shouldn’t have excess tissue.”
He also explained that people should adopt a more plant-based diet and choose organic grass-fed meat.

6 Home Treatments For Asthma

Man using inhaler in hospital bed
Asthma is a serious respiratory disease that inflames and narrows the air passage, thereby making breathing difficult. The causes vary and they include airborne allergens, common cold, physical activity, air pollutants, irritants and serious cough. Any asthma symptom is serious and can become deadly if left untreated.
Try the following home remedies to help manage the symptoms.
Ginger
Ginger can be used to treat asthma because it has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce airway inflammation and inhibit airway contraction. Several compounds in ginger may help relax smooth muscle tissue in the airways, which get constricted during asthma attacks. You are required to drink 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea daily. To make the tea, add 1inch of ginger (cut into small pieces) to a pot of boiling water. Simmer for 10 minutes, strain, allow it to cool and drink it. Another option is to mix equal amounts of ginger juice, pomegranate juice and honey. Consume 1 tablespoon of this mixture 2 or 3 times in a day.
Garlic
Garlic is a popular medicinal herb used to treat asthma. It contains anti-inflammatory properties that help clear congestion in the lungs. It also contains antibiotic and antiviral properties that help boost the immune system. Boil 2 to 3 garlic cloves in ¼ cup of milk. Allow it to cool to room temperature and drink it once daily. Alternatively, eat 2 garlic cloves with 1 teaspoon each of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and honey each morning before breakfast. Another option is to eat 1 to 2 crushed raw garlic cloves daily to boost immunity and prevent asthma attacks.

Lemongrass
Lemongrass can be used for treating asthma, coughs and other respiratory disorders. It contains anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that help reduce inflammation and fight infections. In addition, it has vitamin C that boosts the immune system. Add 2 teaspoons of dried lemongrass to 2 cups of water ½ teaspoon of grated ginger, 2 cloves and a small piece of a cinnamon stick. Let it boil, then simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, add a little lemon juice and honey and drink it once daily when suffering from asthma.

Oregano
Oregano is a powerful herb for treating asthma. Along with anti-inflammatory properties, it contains carvacrol, flavonoids and terpenes that work as lung-cleansing elements. This herb can help reduce inflammation of the respiratory tract and bronchial tubes, thereby providing relief from asthma symptoms. Drink 2 to 3 cups of oregano tea daily when suffering from asthma. To make the tea, steep 3 teaspoon of oregano in 1 cup of hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. Add honey as per taste and drink it. Alternatively, take 1 tablespoon of juice extracted from fresh oregano leaves a few times a day to relieve asthma symptoms and chronic coughs.
Mustard Oil
When having an asthma attack, massaging with mustard oil can help clear the respiratory passage and restore normal breathing. Heat some mustard oil with a little camphor. Transfer it in a bowl and when it is comfortably warm, gently rub it on the chest and upper back and massage gently. Do this several times a day until the symptoms subside.
Coffee, Figs
The caffeine in regular coffee can help control asthma attacks because it acts as a bronchodilator. Hot coffee helps relax and clear the airways to help you to breathe easier. The stronger the coffee, the better the result. But try not to drink more than three cups of black coffee in a day. If you do not like coffee, you can opt for a cup of hot black tea. Do not use caffeine as a regular treatment though. The nutritional properties of figs promote respiratory health and help drain phlegm and alleviate breathing difficulties. Wash three dried figs and soak them in a cup of water overnight. In the morning, eat the soaked figs and drink the fig water on an empty stomach. Continue this home treatment for a couple of months.
To track your asthma, keep records of your symptoms, check your peak flow number using a peak flow meter, and get regular asthma checkups.

Since Buhari Can Forfeit 50% Of His Salary, I Can Forfeit All Of Mine – Fayose

fayose vs supreme court.jpg1
The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of rabble rousing and playing to the gallery by forfeiting fifty percent of his salary.
This disclosure was made known during an interview session with Tribune.
Fayose said, ”Today, they are in power, they can say whatever they have to say. Jonathan is gone, they should leave Jonathan alone and face the act of governance. They said PDP cannot do it well; they are there now. They should, please, try their best for us and leave propaganda.
”Another thing is that the president and vice-president announced that they will forfeit 50 percent of their salaries. That is also playing to the gallery. I can forfeit everything, because salary is meaningless. I’m ready to forfeit all of my own… the whole salary, not half, because we know the truth. We know where people in government make money.

”The president should go a little bit further and forfeit other benefits he enjoys. For instance, all the benefits of the state house in Abuja and protocol. There are a lot of benefits that will accrue to the president in terms of travelling, in terms of sitting allowances and other allowances that are due the president. He must cut the cost, because the benefits are more far-reaching than salary. The president’s salary is N1.1 million. Is the president telling us that he has forfeited N550,000 to Nigerians to change our fortune? No.
”Even my own salary is about N700,000; I’m ready to give it out without complaining and I’m not going to announce it on the radio or television. And, interestingly, you cannot forfeit it by words of mouth, because there is nowhere you will post it anyway in the revenue mobilisation law. You can take it and use it to promote the cause of Nigerians, but don’t tell us you are ready to forfeit half of your salary and it’s a big deal. No, it’s not.
”They should be able to take decisive steps to advance the cause of Nigerians beyond sentiment.
“They’ve been there almost two months and they had about seven weeks before swearing-in. Yet, they’ve not been able to give us direction that they mean well. I’m speaking this way because I’m in the opposition, I’m not in their party”.

Jonathan’s Probe: PDP Dares Buhari

Prominent Nigerians and groups have supported President Muhammadu Buhari’s promise to probe the immediate past Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
In as much as this stand is supported by many, its scope was divided as there was disagreement on the time frame for those to be probed, while some want the probe to be limited to GEJ’s administration only, it was countered by some that it should extend to all past governments. However, both parties calls for the extensive, thorough, transparent and not witch-hunting kind of probe.
President Buhari speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, this weekend, said he met a near empty treasury on assumption of  office, restated his decision to probe the Jonathan’s government to recover the billions of dollars that have not been properly accounted for.

Last week, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), asked the President to probe the immediate past administration over the $5.5bn dividends said to have been paid to the Federal Government by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited. Taxes and dividends recorded trough the NLNG during the GEJ’s administration is expected to be looked into.
When probe was first mentioned, Dr. Jonathan urged President Buhari not to focus only on his administration, maintaining that it would amount to a witch-hunt if only his administration was probed.
According to him, “I think in Nigeria, there are a lot of things that will be probed, very many things, even debts owed by states and debts owed by this country from 1960 up to this time. They say it is Jonathan’s administration that owed these debts… I believe that anybody that is coming for probe must also ensure that this probe is extended beyond the Jonathan administration. Otherwise, to me, it will be witch-hunt. If we are very sincere, it is not only the Jonathan administration that should be probed.”
Speaking with Vanguard, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said “the investigation must be within the ambit of the law and respect for fundamental human rights of citizens, adding that a government must plan for the future and not necessarily spending its energy looking into the past”.
According to Metuh, “It is the right thing to probe and investigate but there must be respect for fundamental human rights of the people. It must be carried out within the confines of the law, there must be no witch-hunt. There must be plans for the future, the government can go ahead with the probe, but must put forward those things that will move the country forward because very soon, Nigerians will be asking questions on insecurity, incessant arrest, the state of the dollar, among others.”The National President of the Arewa Youths Consultative, Alhaji Yerima Usman Shettima, argued that the probe should be all inclusive and not limited to the past PDP administration alone.
In his words, “Nobody is opposed to probing anybody that is found wanting but the probe should not be lopsided. We are all aware that if Buhari wants to probe, he will be totally committed. The probe should not be a witch-hunt, it must be all inclusive. There are some people, who are close to him, they should also be probed, it should be a fight against corruption and not a selected few.”
The EFCC have started probing the immediate past Delta State Government let by Emmanuel Uduaghan.

But I really didn’t want to have him in the car. I was scared. I didn’t know if he’d be breathing OK or if he would need anything else.”

20 Things Recruiters Do Not Want To See On Your CV

Recruiters have to get through hundreds of resumes in a short time.
2
Research suggests that the average hiring manager takes less than one minute to peruse a resume. Other studies show that they can do this initial check in six seconds. Larger companies use applicant tracking software to make the initial selection and they do that in a split second!
So, what are they looking for and what should you avoid mentioning? You have to try and get inside the typical recruiter’s mindset, which will reflect what is in the job description. If you can do that, you can enormously improve your resume.
Here are 20 things that will guarantee your resume ends up in the trash:
1. They do not want to see your duties listed.
All the day to day stuff you do to keep afloat is not necessary and nobody wants to know, least of all the
hiring manager. They just assume you know how to do these! Instead, focus on results you have achieved, how you increased revenues, cut costs or how you played a key role in improving productivity.
2. They do not want to see your life history.
Many applicants want to present a comprehensive resume and include all sorts of irrelevant information. For example, you might include summer jobs which are of no real interest to the recruiting manager.
The solution is to include information about experience and skills which are closely related to the job you are seeking. If the company is looking for someone with marketing skills, the manager will be looking for lots of relevant examples and successes in your marketing. If these are not prominent, then your resume is headed for the bin.
3. They do not want to see vague objective statements.
Writing about your rather vague objective of gaining more skills and experience is a real turn off for the
hiring manager. A classic one which cuts no ice at all is, “Seeking a challenging position that offers professional growth.”
Focus instead on this job. Concentrate on listing your experience and skills which will help you to land the job.
Read the job description again and again to make sure you have matched up the requirements with what you have to offer.
4. They do not want to see a line about references.
Did you know that 99% of applicants write a line stating, “References are available on request”? This is a waste of a line because space is precious when you have to keep your resume to a maximum of two pages.
A much better idea is to leave that out and have a list of reference names ready, should you be asked for them at the interview. Make sure that you have already contacted them so that they are ready to give you a reference, if requested.
5. They do not want to see your work email address.
Hiring managers do not want to contact you at your present workplace, for obvious reasons. It is also safer and more confidential for you.
Always leave a personal email address which has your real name, rather than your ‘cute’ email address.
6. They do not want to see unexplained gaps in your resume.
Courses, lay offs or even getting fired can result in a gap in your resume. Maybe you went freelance for
a while? Employers and managers are familiar with this and there is no problem with a gap.
When you are not prepared to explain the gaps or put a positive spin on them, then there may be an issue. If the courses or freelance jobs improved your skills in certain areas, then by all means include them and relate them to the skills required for this new position.
7. They do not want to see your skills that everyone else has.
When job applicants mention that they are completely at ease with the latest versions of Microsoft Office and Excel, hiring managers will yawn. Everyone working in modern offices have these skills.
If you are working on software development and applying as a software developer, then it might be relevant. If it is just part of your normal skills set for routine jobs, then do not mention this at all.
8. They do not want to see a messy and untidy resume.
This is a real turn off for recruiters because they cannot find the information they want quickly. The
best approach is to be as clear and concise as possible. Mention your name, present position and then relevant experience by mentioning the posts you have held. Make sure you put in start and finishing dates and use bullet points to mention responsibilities and main achievements.
9. They do not want to see your photo or other pictures.
Generally, the photo on the resume is superfluous. Also, the hiring manager does not want to be influenced by gender issues. Why should she waste one second of those precious six viewing your stunning beauty?
As we live in such a visual age, your photo is going to pop up sooner or later, for example on your LinkedIn page. The best thing to do is to make sure that your page does actually have your photograph!
10. They do not want to see irrelevant personal details.
Let us suppose that your church and sporting activities are not applicable to the job you are seeking. If that is the case, they are superfluous and should not be on your resume. The same goes for marital status and other personal details. Most of these are, in fact, illegal for a hiring manager to ask during an interview. So why include them in the first place?
If, on the other hand, you were managing public relations for a charity in your spare time and are applying for a job with a similar profile, then by all means, mention this.
11. They do not want to see fancy fonts or creative formats.
Did you know that many tracking systems strip out all the fancy stuff and the actual viewing format a
manager sees is in plain text? This means that, in many cases, your creative talents will go unnoticed and are a waste of time. If the manager is actually reading the hard copy or attachment, then creative formats may be a distraction and a hindrance. The solution is to keep it simple, clear and concise.
12. They do not want to see empty and poorly managed social profiles.
Yes, your social media profiles are looked at in the job hiring process. In one survey, more than one third of the recruiters are looking at these to filter candidates. Some estimates say that 92% of companies are using social media in their hiring process. If your LinkedIn or Google+ pages are not showing useful and stimulating content, nor connecting sufficiently with people in your industry, then forget it.
Always make sure that you are up to date with developments in your industry and that you are actively engaged. Show that you are a resource and help your connections solve problems.
13. They do not want to see resumes written in the first person.
Yes, they know it is YOU who is applying so there is no need to overuse the word ‘I’. Most applicants start
with ’Responsible for’ which is another way of saying ‘I was responsible for’. The best approach is to make it much more action oriented and start the sentence with ‘Managed…’ ‘Co-ordinated…’, ‘Designed….’, Cut
costs….’ Resolved issues……’ and ‘Led a team of 10…..’.
14. They do not want vague statements of success.
When you state that you have achieved something, you need to quantify it. It is not enough to say that you completed X project within the deadline. You need to go into more detail.
A good example would be: “Played a key role in the opening of a new branch. Since inception, client
numbers have tripled. There are at present 600 individual client files, with about 33% of these active at any one time.”
15. They do not want to see just a list of bullet points.
It may seem easier on the eye at first but when hiring managers are presented with only bullet points, it is actually difficult to read. The ideal resume will contain a mix of sentences interspersed with bullet points which are best for lists of figures or facts.
16. They do not want to see lies or exaggerated claims.
The hiring manager wants the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Some applicants think that a lie here or there is not going to matter one way or the other. They can also embellish their successes with exaggerated claims. Stick to the truth!
17. They do not want to see a one-size-fits-all resume.
You apply for lots of jobs and you always send the same resume. This is a grave error because each job is different requiring particular skill sets, experience and so on.
Remember that each recruiter is looking for a resume that matches their company profile and the skill set for a particular position. A one size fits all resume can never do that.
18. They do not want to see cover letters.
There is a fair amount of debate about this but the consensus is that a cover letter is actually clogging up vital space and time. No one reads it.
Sometimes, though, a cover letter is required. It will depend on the company where you are applying. So pay attention to whether one is asked for.
The best solution is to concentrate on hard hitting statements in your resume which match the skills sets and experience and qualifications required.
19. They do not want to see your cool Word Header feature.
Many applicants want to make a good impression by using the Word header feature with their name. It looks prominent and cool. They are unaware that some scanning software cannot read this header, so your resume ends up as being from an anonymous applicant! Basically, stick to more conventional methods for displaying your name at the top.
20. They do not want to see positions dating back more than 15 years.
Did you know that ageist attitudes are still rife in the job market? By listing all the positions you have held since graduation means that you are going too far back. There is no need to put the date on things like your degree.
The general rule of thumb is to cap a limit of 15 years so that it does not become a historical or autobiographical document.
As we have seen, a resume is rather like an advertisement in which you show off your main features to entice the hiring manager to actually find out more.
If you avoid the 20 mistakes above, you could land that dream job. Good luck!

REVEALED: A Nigerian Town Where Death Awaits Albinos [PHOTOS]

Ibule-Soro is a town in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State. The town which literally means ‘turning land to wealth’ is reputed to have good palm wine. However, Ibule-Soro is a no-go-area for ‘Albinos’ as they would die on getting to the town, located very close to the state capital. BABATOPE OKEOWO who was in the town reports that Jooro, a river goddess in the town abhors men and women of light skin.

In Ibule-Soro in Ifedore local government area of Ondo State everybody is welcome to the agrarian community where the best palm wine is sold in the state as long as you are not albino; the river goddess in the town forbids it. Apart from the fact that an albino cannot enter the town, no indigene of the town has ever given birth to one. In fact, a source in the town said Jooro, the river goddess in the town kills any albino given birth to by any indigene of the town wherever they may be living. A visit to the town by the New Telegraph showed there was no single resident of the town that is albino or even someone that is ‘excessively’ light in complexion. For many people living in Akure, who delight in taking palm wine, the nearest place to get good palm wine and bush meat is Ibule-Soro, as top government functionaries and political office holders usually trooped to the town to enjoy the undiluted palm wine.
For those who because of their tight schedule could not visit the town, they usually send their drivers or trusted aides to get it for them. However, the town, which has remained without a monarch since 2008 when the last occupant joined his ancestors, welcomes everybody to the town and is ready to host you provided you are not an albino. The highest ranking chief in the town, Chief Isaac Olawale Adegboye, the Oluoye of Ibule-Soro, said the people are hospitable to people but not to albino because of Jooro River which usually kill albino who come near to the town. Adegboye, who spoke with New Telegraph alongside the Priest of the River, Chief James Jayeoba, said the present residents of the town should not be blamed for the taboo as the history of the town predated many of them. His words: “We have a river called Jooro. The river does not see albino, if an albino comes to the town, the river will trace him and will kill him.

If the albino comes around the town, the river will get angry and flood everywhere until the albino is killed. “The river will not only kill the albino, it would kill the people in sight and destroy properties. Our forefathers told us that if you bring albino near the town, the River will turn to beach and wash away all the inhabitants of the town.” According to him, apart from albino, the river does not allow bead near it. “You don’t get near Jooro with bead,” he said, adding that only the priest could wear bead to the river. When asked what actually led to the River goddess forbiding albinos, the Priest said he was not told about it, but that it is a tradition handed down from generations past. He informed that the river which is worshipped yearly by adherents, takes pigeon and kolanut, and that it is also prevents calamities from befalling the town. His words: “The River is useful for the indigenes and non-indigenes alike.
It has curative power; it gives children to the barren, heal the sick and promotes the indigenes of the town wherever they are. “If any fetish object is being brought to the town, the river would render it impotent. You can’t also take any fetish object outside the town because the river goddess forbids it.” Besides the river also play a role in the installation and burial of a monarch in the town. Chief Jayeoba said they usually mixed the power used for the installation and once he dies, it is the water from the river that would be used to watch the remains. Chief Adegboye said they were hoping to have a new monarch one day and that normalcy would soon return once a new monarch emerges. His words: “The monarch of the town died in 2008, but we cannot get one because we are waiting for the government’s approval. The government must approve warrant chiefs to replace the chiefs that died. We have six kingmakers but four have died, reaming two. We have written to the government to appoint four warrant chiefs for us.”
