Agbaje Will Be Declared Governor Soon – PDP

The electoral victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Lagos state governorship, Akinwunmi Ambode, might be short live as the as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  in the state has vowed to challenge Ambode victory to a logical end.

This position was made known by the Lagos state PDP publicity secretary, Taofik Gani, while speaking The Punch. He said the victory of Governor Ambode at the Lagos Election Tribunal was a miscarriage of justice as the Tribunal did not follow the prayers of both parties in the case.
Gani said: ” We see the ruling of the tribunal as a miscarriage of justice. It is at variance with the law because even the prayers of the petitioner and the defendant were left out only for the panel to bring up an action saying that the PDP ought to have requested for a re-election which was not part of our prayers.
He added that PDP in the state is saying that Ambode was not validly nominated by his party as notice given to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not meet deadline as set by the commission.

The PDP scribe said: So, it is our intention to challenge this at the Appeal Court and we are optimistic that the court will upturn the ruling and that is why we are telling the people of Lagos to be patient as their mandate will soon be returned to them.
Gani further stressed that the APC in the Lagos has perfected the art of manipulating elections. He added that the PDP won the election but the APC used their power to overturn the PDP victory.
He asserted : “We believe that the APC will go the extra mile to deny us our mandate but we will fight them to a logical conclusion. We are also considering petitioning the National Judicial Council over the manner in which the panel handled our case. It is not within the power of any court to have made that ruling.”

Reacting to the PDP claims that the election that saw to the emergence of Governor Ambode was manipulated, the APC said that Agbaje was beaten roundly and there is not evident prove to the contrary.

The APC scribe Joe Igbokwe asked rhetorically: “Did the PDP have any evidence to present before the tribunal in the first place? Are they saying they won the election? Are they newcomers in Lagos? Were they even on the ground in the first place?”
