Sallah: Pastor Feeds Over 1,000 Physically Challenged Persons, Muslim Inmates

SALLAH-300x159
A clergy, Pastor Yohanna Buru yesterday led a team of Christian leaders to distribute food and drinks and gave other humanitarian assistance to street beggars and Muslim inmates at Mallam Niggers Rehabilitation Centre in Rigasa, Kaduna, as part of activities marking the Sallah celebration.
This is an effort to promote peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria and to shun all forms of ethno-religious political crisis.
Over 1,000 take-away food pack and drinks distributed to the destitutes and inmates.
According to Pastor Buru, “This is the time of happiness and we have to make them happy by assisting them with foodstuff. We have observed that most of them, even on Sallah day, have to go out and beg for food to eat.
“We felt bad and opted to assist them. So, we decided to cook for them; there is the need to help those that duly need our assistance and that is why we are calling on philanthropists, government and wealthy individuals to help those street beggars that are facing daily challenges of getting what to eat to help them with food and clothes.”
Apart from distributing foodstuff to Muslims destitutes and inmates, Pastor Yohanna also led a team of Christian clerics to Islamic scholars to felicitate with them at Sallah and congratulate them for successfully completing the Ramadan fast. He urged all Muslims to imbibe the lesson learnt during the fasting period in their daily activities to better the society.
While receiving the food on behalf of persons living with disabilities in the state, Mallam Muntari Saleh, who is the leader of the Northern Blind Forum, expressed appreciation over the assistance from the team of Christian clergies. He added that there is the need for Christians and Muslims to emulate such gestures.
Saleh decried the hard situation Nigerian destitutes, including the educated ones among them due to hatred and rejection.
