The Vice Chancellor of the Adamawa State University, ADSU, Mubi, Prof Joshua Shall, has disclosed that the varsity has resumed academic activities.
According to the VC, the university has also recruited 80 vigilante men and hunters to ensure the security of the university community.
Prof. Shall, who said 95% of the students had resumed classes, stated that the institution lost 11 staff and three students, while property worth N5 billion were destroyed by the insurgents in October 2014.
The vice chancellor continued that the school managed to re-open following the intervention it received from TETFund which supported it with N250 million.
“They (insurgents) broke into all offices, staff quarters, hostels, laboratories, stores and looted properties,” he said.
He said that TETFund also approved a substantial amount of money for the institution which the management was now trying to access to sustain the ongoing rehabilitation work in the university.
While lauding TETFund for the support, it also commended the national body of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), for donating N21 million to its members in the university.
