Anti-Corruption: Use Political Appointees To Set Example For Civil Servants, Others – Niger APC Tells Gov

posted by Som Offor.

APCThe Niger State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to key into President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption drive by removing state officials who corruptly enrich themselves.
A statement issued yesterday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Jonathan Vatsa, in Minna, the state capital, said the APC was in full support of the anti-corruption initiative of President Buhari.
The party, therefore, urged Governor Bello to embrace the presdient’s anti-graft war in the state, having been elected on the platform of the same political party.
The statement stressed that “self-centered government officials”, who did not see their appointment as service but a way to enrich themselves, must be shown the way out before the state could get it right.
“Niger state has been looted under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government for the past 8 years to stupor, even if it was yesterday that our dear governor appointed any of our member, who he is found wanting the next day, such an official should be axed.
“Our party is not a party where people go to government to enrich themselves all for fatal political pursuit. If you loot to contest in our party, you will be treated exactly how looters should be treated. We are confident that our dear Governor is vigilant to watch all appointed officials.
“We are sounding this note of warning because we don’t want our appointed party members to think that because they are members of the APC, they will be spared in the Governor’s anti-corruption agenda. In fact, our party members should in the real sense be used as examples for others like civil servants.
“We, therefore, urge the Governor to sack any party man found wanting no matter the duration of his or her appointments before committing such offense”, the statement further admonished.
