Premier League Team Coach Shot By Unknown Gunmen

posted by Som Offor.

Charles Offordile, the head coach of Nigerian Premier League side Enugu Rangers, was shot by unknown gunmen on Monday, August 10, according to a report on Daily Post.
It was gathered that Offordile was rushed to the hospital shortly after the incident and is currently receiving treatment.
According to reports, the five-time Federation Cup champions were preparing to travel to Abuja for Wednesday’s 2015 Federation Cup quarterfinal match against El-Kanemi Warriors, when the gunmen shot Offordile.
This was confirmed by Foster Chime, spokesperson of the club who said the coach was responding to treatment in an Enugu Hospital.
He said: “We were all preparing to travel to Abuja for our Federation Cup game when we heard he has been shot by gunmen. But we thank God, he is getting better and responding to treatment. The team management has visited him already.”

An official of the club who also spoke to newsmen said the gunmen were likely to be cultists, who have wreaked havoc on residents of the area recently.
“From what we have gathered, it is likely that Offordile was shot by cultists in Asata area of Enugu. They have been constituting nuisance to lives and property in the area for some time now,” he said
There are indications that the assailants may even be known to Offordile.
This unfortunate incident comes on the heels of Rangers quarter final game today, August 12, against El Kanemi Warriors in the Federation Cup.
Non-league side, BJ Foundation and Niger Tornadoes Feeders were the biggest surprise in the round 16 of the ongoing 2015 Federation Cup.
Both teams recently defeated
