Eid al-Adha is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah’s command to sacrifice his son Ishmael. Muslims around the world observe this event.
Nigerian leader Muhammadu Buhari has visited his native state Katsina to prayer at Eid el-Kabir.
The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari and her children, on Thursday observed the Eid el-Kabir prayers at the An-Nur Mosque in Abuja.
However, the tragedy marred this bright day as at least 453 pilgrims were killed and 719 others were injured today in a stampede at Mina, outside the Muslim holy city of Mecca, in Saudi Arabia.
