posted by Som Offor.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone D, has urged the Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the probe of Senate President, Bukola Saraki following corruption allegations levelled against him (Saraki).
The Senate President is facing trials at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over alleged false declaration of asset to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), and for operating a foreign account as the Kwara state governor between 2003 and 2007.

The Nigerian , claiming that he knows nothing about the case, as further reactions continue to trail the former Kwara governor’s ordeal.
Now, the coordinator of the students’ union, Okikiola Ogunsola, noted in a statement, that the body had already pledged its support for the president’s fight against corruption, therefore, Saraki’s trial should not be stalled for any reason.

He was quoted by Premium Times to have said: “Our position is that any individual or group charged or alleged to have participated directly or indirectly in misappropriation, mismanagement or acquired properties in a wrong way should submit to rule of law to take effect.
“As an ideological zone, we would not in any way subject ourselves to any act by our national body that tend to undermine or coerce rule of law from taking its course.
“We are stating in strong terms that our zone is not of the planned protest by the civil society group under the aegis of Heritage Group and NANS.”
In a related development, 50 senators who are apparently loyal to the Senate President, met in Abuja to discuss the recent development and during their meeting, they stated (Saraki’s) travails.
