Lagos Mainland is the part of Lagos that is
considered the down town part of the city compared to the upscale island
of Lagos. The Third mainland Bridge connects the two parts. If you want
to move to Lagos, you have the choice of living on the Island or
Mainland. While most Lagosians who have made good prefer to move to the
Island as a sign of status change, there are still good reasons to live
on the Mainland
Here are 5 reasons you should reside on Lagos Mainland
Business
Business, especially small and medium scale business is better
operated on the mainland. Lagos mainland accommodates and supports the
existence and growth of business regardless of how small. The running
capital in Lagos Island due to its affluent projection is a difficult
place to start a business. The rent of a single shop coupled with
accommodation can leave one with no money to even begin the business.
Cost of living
There is no doubt that the cost of living in Lagos Island and its
environs is very expensive. The challenge is that it keeps rising
regardless of what the current situation is like. Lagos Island makes it
possible to adapt and adjust to situation and those who reside there
have that advantage. The cost of living on the mainland is relatively
manageable.
Lifestyle
The life style in Lagos Island is one that is tailored towards
conspicuous consumption and people who live there are in constant
pressure to continue to “fit” into the circle. This sometimes becomes
the priority so people want to change their cars periodically and be in
vogue. Lagos mainland doesn’t have the same terrain so it’s easy to cut
ones clothes according to cloth and size. The relationship between
neighbours is also more cordial and family-like on the mainland.
The Real Lagos
The best place to experience the real part of the city is the
mainland where everything is “real” and not “choreographed”. Lagos
mainland presents the good, bad and ugly of the city. The perception
that an intelligent Lagosian can survive anywhere in the world is
actually a depiction of Lagosians who has lived on the mainland and not
the cream and butter Lagosians on the island.
Lagos Mainland Does Not Sleep
Lagos is fondly called the city that never sleeps. While Lagos Island
can take a quick nap, Lagos mainland hardly goes to sleep. Weekends are
always alight with parties and
owambe and night markets are
also scattered around to cater for your needs. Some people who live on
the island find their way to the mainland on weekends to have a great
time.
