Immediately after the crash, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) urged residents in the area and motorists to keep away from the scene to avoid a fire outbreak.
The cause of the crash could not be determined at press time.
This is the second reported tanker crash in Lagos state in the past week. Several shops and vehicles were destroyed by fire last week, Tuesday, after a tanker loaded with fuel swerved off a bridge in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos state and exploded.
The fire burnt the line of shops, covering over 50 metres by the road side.

In a related development, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is in shock over the death of one  of its top officials Chief S. O. Adewale who died in a car crash involving a petrol tanker which lost control and rammed into a carcarrying him, his wife and another occupant.
