Health workers have embarked on a protest
due to the non-payment of their salaries for five months by the Bola
Tinubu Health and Diagnostic Centre.
According to The Punch, the workers at the health centre which is situated at the Lagos state university teaching hospital embarked on the protest on Wednesday, September 2.
The workers asked the state government to intervene in the unpaid salary issue which is supposedly the duty of Deux Nigeria Limited. The consulting company is saddled with the responsibility of the payment of salaries of staff at the Bola Tinubu centre.
A worker at the radiology department who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they were not called back even after they had gone on a three day strike making it impossible to tell if they will be paid or not.
“We gave them a 21-day strike notice, they didn’t respond. We went on strike for three days, they did not call us back. As it is now, we don’t even know if we will be paid or not.”
In another development, medical workers in Ondo state embarked on a three months warning strike in order to protest what they called victimization of resident doctors in the state.
