Dbanj reported to have proposed to girlfriend Adama Indimi with a diamond ring

NOLLYWOOD insiders believe that Afrobeat
musical sensation Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo popularly
known as D'banj has proposed to his girlfriend
Adama Indimi after she was seen sporting an
expensive diamond engagement ring.
Dbanj, 34, is the founder of DB Records and has a
mythical following among Nigerian music lovers at
home and in the diaspora. Among his accolades are
the Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music
Awards 2007, Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa
Music Awards 2009, Best International Act: Africa
at the BET Awards 2011 and Best-selling African
Artist at the 2014 World Music Awards.
Over the last year, Dbanj has been seen constantly in
the company of Adama, the daughter of billionaire
oil magnate, Alhaji Mohammed Indimi. Although
they are yet to come out to confirm they are planning
to tie the knot, Adama has been flaunting a diamond
ring in new pictures she posted on Instagram,
prompting rumours of an engagement.
Last year, Dbanj was reported to be dating
Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji as the two were
regularly spotted together at several events. Neither
of them, however, confirmed or denied the rumours
of a romantic relationship.
D'banj adopted his stage name as a combination of
his first name Dapo and his surname Oyebanjo and
is regarded as the most popular among the new
generation Afrobeat Nigerian musicians. He is best
known internationally for his 2012 summer hit
Oliver Twist, an uptempo dance fusion of Afrobeat
and electronic dance music that topped the African
charts 2011 and was a top 10 hit in the UK singles
chart in 2012 reaching number two in the UK R&B
chart.
If Adama does settle down with Dbanj, she will be
expected to play a role in his humanitarian activities
as among other things he is the founder of the Koko
Foundation for Youth and Peace Development and is
also Nigeria's first United Nations Youth
Ambassador for Peace. In April this year, Dbanj
visited the victims of the Nyanya bomb attack in the
Federal Capital Territory at the Asokoro District
Hospital and used the opportunity to urge Nigerian
youths to shun violence.
