UNBELIEVABLE: Poly Student Petitions Patience Jonathan Over Rape Case

Nigeria's First Lady, Dame Patience
Jonathan, has been petitioned by the
former president of the National
Association of Nigerian Students
(NANS), Oludare Ogunlana, over the
alleged rape of a female student of
Ibadan Polytechnic, Eruwa Campus
by a soldier.

Leadership reports that Ogunlana, said the
female student was allegedly raped at the
weekend for over five hours by a soldier
attached the joint anti-crime security outfit
of the Oyo State government, code named
"Operation Burst."
He said the crime was committed within the
premises of the agency located beside INEC
office on local government secretariat Road,
Eruwa area of the state. He lamented that the
young lady has been left to her fate despite the
overwhelming evidence and oral confession
of the rapist soldier.
he
said.
"The randy soldier assaulted the lady,
detained, molested, harassed, threatened her
life to instill fear, and raped her mercilessly
under the mango tree in the vicinity of the
'Operation Bburst' office from 10.00 pm. to
3.00am on Saturday 30th August, 2014."
The NANS former president, who alleged that
there is an ongoing attempt to silence the
victim and deny her justice, called for the
urgent intervention of the first lady. He
disclosed that despite threat to the victim's
life, she still gathered the courage to report
the incident to the police on Saturday
morning.
Ogunlana further revealed that rapist was
identified among his colleagues and was
arrested by the police, but was later handed
over to the Nigerian Army authority for
further investigation, with his name
concealed.
he
said.
"We are afraid that the army authority will
not come out very soon to claim that the act
was committed by the Unknown Soldier,"
He, however, thanked the police for their
swift response, and hinted that the medical
result which would have supported the
victim's claim was deliberately sabotaged.
